Location: Red Earth, AB

Field: Otter, Red Earth
Well Depth: Varies
Problems: Paraffin
Formation: Granite Wash, Slave Point, & Keg River
Number of Wells: 28

Historical Problems and Remedies Prior to Treatment:
Wells had to be hot oiled every 2 to 3 months. A very strict pigging schedule of every 8 days was employed. Rods were parting every 6 months. Stripper wells had to be oiled every 3 months.

Observed Results of Microbial Treatments:
Hot oiling has essentially been eliminated. Flow lines are significantly cleaner and no longer requiring a strict pigging schedule. Substantially longer life is achieved out of the rods. Stripper wells have been going for a year to date without hot oiling. Production level has increased somewhat but not significantly.

Location: Sexsmith, AB

Field: Clair
Well Depth: 800 meter average
Problems: Paraffin
Formation: Doe creek
Number of Wells: 29

Historical Problems and Remedies Prior to Treatment:
Casing and tubing would constantly plug up due to excessively high paraffin dropout. Flow line would also plug up and had to be pigged 2 to 3 times per week. Pads were in the treater. Well heads had to be steamed every month. Sales line was hot oiled every 3 months. They couldn’t take accurate fluid shots. Injection wells would pressure up and lose flow into formation. A chemical treatment program combined with condy flushing was proving ineffective.

Observed Results of Microbial Treatments:
Well heads are no longer waxing up. Flow lines are pigged once per week now. There are hardly any pads in the treater. No more steaming of well heads. No trouble with the sales line. They can get accurate fluid shots. Injection wells range from a 2m3 to 100m3 flow rate. Recently did first turnaround in 2 years, pulled the treater apart to find it completely clean. They took the hatch off the sales tank (2000 bbl) and it was totally clean. Their paraffin treatment budget as been cut in half. Peace Pipe Line has claimed this field to have had the greatest paraffin problem in the Peace Country. The microbial treatment program has significantly cleaned it up.

Field: Steelman
Well Depth: 1450 meters
Problems: Asphaltines and paraffin
Formation: Midale
Number of Wells: 1

Historical Problems and Remedies Prior to Treatment:
High fluid levels due to asphaltene problems including paraffin deposits. Chemicals were used.

Average Production before Treatment:
BOPD: 8 Oil cut 13%

Observed Results of Microbial Treatments:
We saw that the well pumped off, and a drop in fluids was noticed. Total production increase was noted. Chemical use was eliminated.

Average Production after Microbial treatment:
BOPD: 11.2 Oil cut 13%

Location: S.E. Saskatchewan

Field: Steelman
Well Depth: 1450- 1500 meters
Problems: Paraffin and Iron Sulfides
Formation: Midale
Number of Wells: 4

Historical Problems and Remedies Prior to Treatment:
Reduced inflows and high line pressures due to paraffin. Hot oiling, use of chemicals and regular pigging of lines were observed.

Average Production before Treatment:
BOPD: 5-6

Observed Results of Microbial Treatments:
Wells had an increase in inflows, and a decrease in water cuts. Line pressures dropped off, less pigging of flow lines needed to keep pressures down. Reduced heat in the treaters needed for breakout. Hot oiling and chemicals eliminated.

Average Production after Microbial Treatment:
BOPD 6-6

Location: Colorado, USA
Field: Spindle
Well Depth: 500-5500
Problems: Paraffin & Scale ( CaCO3 )
Formation: Shannon/ Sussex
Number of Wells: 13

Historical Problems and Remedies Prior to Treatment:
Every 60 days the wells had to be “hot oiled” down the tubing and flow lines. Decreased production was realized. Stripping was required. These wells had to be pulled every 12 to 18 months.

Average Production before Treatment:
BOPD 2-3 BWPD 1

Observed Results of Microbial Treatments:
Initial treatment was injected down tubing in September 1998. Since beginning treatment, no hot oiling or butane augmentation has been needed. Oil production has increased up to 50%.

Average Production after Microbial Treatment:
BOPD 4-5 BWPD 1-6
